  • I've started working on documenting Lessons.

Each Lesson has a Skill Tree and I'd like your advice as to how we should document them.

At the moment, my thought is that we recreate the Skill Tree as a table with connecting lines, but I'm not sure the best way to go about it.

    What do you suggest?

    • I think they should be working now. I highly recommend using the Source Editor when dealing with templates. The Visual Editor is easily confused.

    • I hear ya. I much prefer to use Source Mode, which is why I spotted the issue.

But most folks like using the Visual Editor, so I figure it needs to work for them.

  • G'day Are you able to alter the Main Template?

    Instead of it reading...

    Main Article: Blah

Can you please alter it so that it reads like this...

    See Main Article: Blah

  • The Icons for the Houses have been added and are available. Zviznemte is yet to find/upload the Profession Icons. I may be able to get and clean up screen captures as a stop-gap measure until the cleaner, higher-res versions can be added.

    • The profession symbol now works in the Ministry ID. Have you seen any editors using it on their profile?

  • I've treid to steal a Nav Bar that was used in another Wiki I used to manage. I *think* I've added the right code to the Wiki's CSS, but the Template isn't showing up properly. Are you able to take a look and fix it?

I feel like I'm pesting you with my niggly screw ups. But once this is done we'll have a whole new section that will be able to help new players, which I think will be an asset for them.

Yes, I could've made it a basic table with Text Links, but I wanted it to be pretty damn it. 😜

Are you able to help me to create some new User Groups?

I want to be able to add Users to each of these groups. I believe I'm supposed to do so ay MediaWiki:ProfileTags, but when I tried to do it, it wouldn't work. I assume I need to add something to the Wiki's CSS or similar for it to work. I assume that you have all the access/rights and skillset needed for this to be done. I tried to teach myself but I hit the limit of my Wiki Code knowledge. I really need to learn JarvaScript. 😅 🙃👍

Previously when I've been an Admin/Community Manager for other Fandom Wikis I've done a Monthly Report to document the growth of the Wiki. So much of the Analytics Fandom gives us access to disappears and isn't really helpful. Now it looks like they've locked it down even further and want to stop me from sharing any of the data. I put in a request but got a reply from MisterWoodhouse that he was fine with me sharing everything except Top Ten Pages and Most Popular Day. Of all the data I thought he'd baulk at, those two weren't the ones I thought they'd have an issue with. 😳🤦🏻‍♀️

I've responded and asked him to reconsider. Stopping me from sharing which pages are popular because it makes them targets for Vandalism is dumb. Why are we neutering the growth of a Wiki for fear of Trolls, which we can Rollback and ban?  😤🤦🏻‍♀️

Do you know MisterWoodhouse? Are you able to help sway him at all?

Have to say I'm not a fan of the new Forum format. 😤 I used to be able to code them with Source Code to add tables and the like, but no longer. 😫 Do you know if there's a way for this Wiki to use an older version for Forums? One that allows us to create various boards so that we can group content.

    🙃👍

One of the aspects in the game is checking of "Tasks". There are several differnt types of tasks...

    Brilliant and Special Assignments

These use the same template each time. Knowing what the Assignments are for each event is a huge advantage during gameplay and will attract more people here.

This is what Brilliant Assignments look like in the game...

    Special Assignments - Brilliant Example

Top has the graphic for the Special Event, and some white text that says whether it's page 1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc... Or Bonus Assignments.

Pages 1 - 4 of a Brilliant Event always have three tasks, with the rewards listed underneath. They have a dark purple striped background and a purple border.

Special Assignments have more than three tasks, a dark blue background and an aqua border.

    Eg

    Task - Example

Like the Brilliant Assignments, they also have a graphic up the top and a rewards section at the bottom, but I couldn't find my screen caps of those to show you. : /

I have been trying to upload the various bits and pieces of this section of the game so that they can be put together into a template and used on the pages for each of the Brilliant and/or the Special Events.

    • File:Task_Background.jpg
    • File:Task_Background_2.jpg
    • File:Brilliant_Assignments_-_Background.jpg

Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna already has the data for each of the Four Pages of Assignments and the rewards offered.

    Daily Assignments

These are the same every day and reset at midnight (player's time). The Daily Assignments page lists all the tasks, but what I'd like is to present this information in the same way that it is presented in the game. This wouldn't be a priority, except that I'd like to have a template we can use to display tasks for Brilliant and Special Events. And if we make one for those pages, then we may as well make one for the Daily Assignments too.

    • Where are we up to with this project?

I started making pages for Brilliant Events using tables, but having a Template would be much easier.

I've started making Infoicons for various rewards. Yet to have one for everything, so again, a template would be faster/easier.

Now that I've been coding up Brilliant Events I've been able to determine a patter.

      1. All Brilliant Events have Four Pages of tasks
      2. Eage Page has three tasks
      3. Each Page has 5 or 6 Rewards (I'm yet to find one that only has four)

I've started working on Template: Assignments. Holy crap it was been waaaaay too long since I made templates! 😂I think I have to re-learn everything. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm not sure how to make it flexible with regards to the completion bonuses. I figure I need to have a field for Total Completion Rwards.

If you could please take a look and make sure it's usable so that I can start to use when making pages for Brilliant Events, that would be tops.

      🙃👍

    • OK, I've tested it on Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna... This event only has 3 completion rewards. Are you able to fix the template so that it will display properly with only 3 rewards? It also needs a heap of formating so that the information is displayed a lot better. But I figure we can make it pretty after it acutally works. Of course, if you can see a better way to do what I've done, I'm all ears. 🙃👍

Can you please pimp our Spoiler template so that the current text (Expecto Spoilerum) is larger and in the special font.

Can you also add some text (normal size and font) that says: Click here to reveal dialogue

Thanks again for all your help.

    🤩

  • Thought I'd make a new thread with this topic...

OK. I've read the Help page you linked on preload templates.

I like the idea of the custom welcome message. I also feel like I'm failing ot see what the difference is for the User.

Possibly because by the time they were added to the last Wiki I was managing I was no longer creating content as I was focusing on coordinating other people's efforts. Which is a fancy way of saying I was the ideas person and I let other people do the grunt work. 😜

Javascript is something I have always wanted to learn but still haven't. 😄

    • OK. I've started creating templates dor various pages. So far I've done ones for:

      • Characters
      • Confouondables

I figure it's best to have all of these templates done *before* we start doing the rest of this task... yeah?

        Loading editor
    • I added them as /preload templates under the associated infobox templates and added links to them in MediaWiki:Newarticletext as described. Try them out when you edit a new page :)
